AG Myers Announces Broad Support from Educational Community
Educators ask Hardy to keep up the good work on school safety
Portland— Attorney General Hardy Myers’ reelection campaign announced today that it has secured the endorsements of the Oregon chapter of the American Federation of Teachers, the Oregon Education Association, and the Oregon School Employees Association.
“Hardy has earned the OEA recommendation because of his unmatched record of keeping Oregon’s schools safe from crime and violence,” Kris Kain, president of the Oregon Education Association, said today. “Hardy is a strong advocate for students, for teachers, and for working men and women throughout the state.”
Myers created the Attorney General’s School Safety Task Force, bringing leaders from the educational and law enforcement communities together to find commonsense solutions to the problem of school violence in Oregon. One product of the Task Force’s work is the recently instituted School Safety Hotline, which will enable students to report anonymously situations they believe maybe a threat to school safety.
